Experimenting with color, texture, and form.
“Ponderosa in Smoke-Filled Canyon”

Color and composition derived from a photograph that I took along the John Muir trail in the Eastern Sierra. Utilized pen tablet and various digital brushes in photoshop to push color around and achieve a somewhat painterly look.
These pieces celebrate the essence and diversity of human experience and shared access to the
beautiful and wild lands of the greater Yosemite area. Complexity of our relationship to nature is implied
through the choice of soft, hard, vigorous, dull.
Instability and change as counterbalance to serene and innocent nature.
What do we believe of our role in this environment? What do we believe is our value to this
environment?
Through this work, I invite viewers to ponder the coexistence of nature and civilization and assign value
to these places that may be fleeting, fostering dialog and reflection on the intricacies that define us.
